Stage 1 V8
Tyres & Tyre Pressures Recommended Tyres
At the time of production the recommended tyre size for the Series 3 109 V8 was 7.50 x 16. There is, of course, now available a metric sized equivalent in the 235/85.16 which, although slightly wider than the original, has the same diameter and therefore does not interfere with the gearing or speedometer reading.
Tyres are a very personal choice depending on intended use and budget but the following are what Land Rover originally recommended for the model:
Make Type Dunlop Trakgrip 6 ply cross-ply Goodyear Hi-miler 6 ply cross-ply Avon Ranger Mk II HS nylon 6 ply cross-ply Michelin XCM +S4 Radial ply Michelin XS Radial ply Tyre Pressures
Using the correct tyre pressures are vital to prolong tyre life, obtaining optimum fuel economy and ensuring safe handling inthe prevailing conditions. Land Rovers' recommendations for tyre pressures are as follows:

Keep the spare wheel at the highest pressure and deflate as necessary if needed.
