Brilliant thread - enjoyed reading it all, and particularly the last few showing it's getting through MOT's :-)

Just has the phone call from the garage. Failed due to high emissions
Everything else was fine with no problems. Off to collect now and see what's caused the high emissions.
Any ideas please? What's the first thing to be checked?
Thanks.

The V8 engine? Basically you've got to detune it - it was never designed to meet these emissions standards - weaken the mixture - push it into the test centre if necessary (just joking - almost) :(

Pretty much I'm afraid. Look at the output graph to see where the emissions are coming from, low or high revs. Mine is horrendous at idle but better than average above 1700rpm.

Well its been a productive few days enjoying being off work for the Christmas holiday.

new spark plugs, fuel filter change, carbs cleaned and dash pots topped up and K&N air filters cleaned and oiled, UJ's all greased up, changed the leaking front pinion oil seal, F&R axles topped up with EP90, engine given a rather good run, a damn good wash to return it to limestone buy removing the greeny mould.

MOT now in the new year - rock on.

hello all,

over the weekend whilst topping the gear box up with oil, l noticed that there was quite a leak of oil coming from the gear stick joint. upon further inspection l found that the seal that fits under the collar around the ball joint has disintegrated and now requires replacing.
does any body know the part number as its not listed on page 1I 13 of the parts manual?

thanks

just picked up the part today £7.12 from Rimmer Bros!!!

now here is the stupid question: how the heck to l fit the damn thing? does the gear shift shaft unscrew from the selector rod ball joint so you can removed the rubber boot/gator and the holding down plate with the 3 bolt holes in in it and slide it on? I am not with my landy till the weekend.
do not want to cut it to get it over the ball.

thanks
