Seals from the valve shafts

Post by Larosto »

Hello,
does anybody know whether the Stage One needs valve shaft seals or not?
Mine doesn`t have any, but I know that they are available.
My engine needs about 1 ltr oil on 1000 km, but when I run down a hill without throttle, and then pull down the accelerator there comes oil-smoke out of the exhaust pipe. It isn`t a problem yet, but I`m a little unsure about the seals. Does anybody know what it is about?

Regards

Exactly the same thing with mine... I've made a number of inquiries about it but never really got a straight answer. I think I fitted the seals with no change... can't quite remember tho.

The parts manual does mention valve seals on the inlet valves (ERC7865), so i think fitting them would be wise. They're quite cheap, and i think that they can't do any harm when you fit them, so... why not fit them?

I remember hearing that sometimes people removed them due to insufficient lubrication down the valve guides. I actually fixed the smoking problem by putting the crank case under a slight vacuum which helps reduced the amount of oil that is sucked in on engine breaking.
