as far as i no the diff lock works on vacume and from the carbs, so your switch being stiff is most prob due to lack of use n just stuck. the best way i know to check if your diff woks proply is to take off a prop shaft, wit one shaft on n diff lock off, you wont get any drive at all, put the diff on, n if you get drive you know it works (dont go far, just move ment n youl know), so if you dont get drive, the pipes will either be cracked or are disconnected.. if you have a s111 genuine parts catalogue the switch n pipes are at the end of the gaer box section...

funny u should mention that way to find out about that diff lock,
i had a front wheel bearing go, and the whole hub was slowly working itself off the spline on the axel, i couldnt figure what was up for a while as the truck couldn't move, untill i put the diff lock on.

It's a hose that runs straight off one of the intake runners, towards the bulk head. It pretty much runs over the bell housing and dissapears into the gearbox tunnel. It's very easy to identify.

On the freewheeling hubs? You are advised not do do it?? I suppose it's bad to keep your center diff locked because it isn't designed for that sort of load. Sometimes I do wish my car was 2wd tho...
