Stage 1 V8

Hi,

I´m planing a journey to Morokko with my Stage One this year.
Has someone done this before, and could give me some advices about the best routes, or apartments or other special things about such a trip, which I should know? I thougt about 2 or 3 weeks for the whole journey.

Hi Horst,

I went to Morocco in 2003 in my old 88" diesel.

Someone I know runs trips out there so I tagged onto one of his trips. We took the ferry from algerciras to cueta and then headed south through the rift mountains.

The aim was to head south to the desert (Erg Chebbi dunes) via volubillis (ruined roman city), ifrane, todra gorge, dades gorge and merzouga. After spending some time playing in the dunes.

On the way back we stopped off in fez for a couple of days which is well worth a visit.

A few tips for you:

Take lots of antiseptic wipes and clean and wash yourself and anything you touch at least 10 times an hour. Driving through the desert with chronic diarrhea isnt fun! Also take lots of toilet paper.

Haggle on everything

Take sweet, pens and paper for kids you meet along the way.

Take lots of film of memory cards for your camera!

It was the best trip I have ever done and intend to go back in the next year or 2. Petrol out there is relatively cheap as is food and accommodation if you dont camp.

In north (saharan) africa you dont normally need any jabs, although typhoid is a good idea. Start heading further south and then you do need a few depending on which country you go to.

thats a lot! i can't stand the couple of regular ones that seem only to be compulsory over here!

Its not to bad, you can opt to have it all done in 1 go with a really big syringe
