Hicap launch date?

Does anyone know when the High Capacity Pickup was launched in the UK? I know it was some time in 1982. I have just acquired a rather rough but savable Hicap, registered 7th May 1982. It has a couple of unusual features (such as County cloth seats) and the chassis number is wrong for a Hicap (LBCAV rather than LBCHV) but everything about the vehicle points to it having left Solihull to this spec. It has been off the road since 1995. I wondered whether it might be a pre-production vehicle.
