engine identification

I've got a 1966 Series IIA/1984 D110... basically its a LWB that's been pieced together from a few different vehicles.

It's got a dual SU V8 petrol engine with a LT-77 Tranny. I've been asking around to try and identify exactly what my engine is and when it was produced, so that I can pick up the appropriate shop manuals for it. I've got a lot of work to do on this thing (including overhauling the entire ignition system) and I don't want to get into it without the proper referances.

The serial number on the engine is:
15G00212 (stamped above the s/n is: CR8.13.1)

Would any of you be able to identify this engine through the serial number... or know how, or where, I might find a referance that would allow me to do so?

I'm pretty certain it's a 3.5L... but that's about all I can figure out.

Any help you can offer is greatly appreciated.

Hi welcome to the forum - try this site

http://www.v-8.org.uk/RangerRoverV8EngineNumbers.htm

checking from the list on the above web page, your number does not match anything!

Guys correct me if im wrong?

The "CR" number refers to compression ratio but is also useful as it should tie in with the engine number on an (unmodified engine)

Check the number again the G may infact be a D - its should be stamped on cast pad on the cylinder block between #3 and#5 cylinders - dip stick side of engine.

Good luck with your project

Your engine is a 8.13:1 compression ratio 90/110 petrol 3528cc V8 (detoxed)

Probably the engine that would have come out of the 110 used to build your vehicle.
