Managed to get myself stranded yesterday, the clutch went on me over the course of a few miles. Can't even select a few gears to get it rolling now that it's cooled down. Does anybody have any new clutch recommendations and reference numbers before I start playing? Quinton Hazell?
Kind regards,
George
New clutch recommendations
Re: New clutch recommendations
Genuine Land-Rover, AP Lockheed, Borg & Beck or even a VALEO and nothing less. All listed under Land-Rover/Range-Rover V8 with four speed gearbox. There's no guarantee what will be in a QH box. Whereas with BRITPART you always know it will be the cheapest components available and noting more.
It is unusual for the clutch to just fail. More likely the hydraulics.

Re: New clutch recommendations
All the clutch failures I've experienced over the years have been due to wear of the friction material and slipping. The transition from feeling it start to slip to it slipping and the vehicle going nowhere has been both sudden and rapid. It is unusual for the clutch to just fail. More likely the hydraulics.

Thanks Cliff, exactly my experience. Thanks 1275, I was surprised that genuine LR is still available, and that's what I have gone for.
