I was just about to post a link to this curiosity but see that you beat me to it. Am I missing something? - can anyone explain to me what makes this so rare other than the main thing that's missing from it (it's crane)? (not to mention what would otherwise be there and isn't - a proper rear tub) His claims for its rarity are confused and based on no apparent actual evidence - see this page from the same site he evidently looked at:

https://www.howmanyleft.co.uk/?utf8=%E2 ... over+109V8

It's not like it's a 6x6 or something. Perhaps it has something to do with those wheel arch extensions? Do you actually know something about these "super rare" models that I don't Adie? To me it just looks overpriced - might be different if it was less changed from when it was in police service.

Ok, I just googled it and found this:

http://www.ascrt.com/about/transport-history/

Says it has a 127 inch wheelbase (the wheel arch 'eyebrows' were only to accommodate wider offset wheel rims apparently) - So, a 'Stage One' (leaf-sprung) '127 V8' then? - never heard of one of them before - if that's true, seems the seller neglected to mention the one thing that makes his truck incredibly rare!

Doesn't seem to bad a price to me for a MOT'd vehicle
It does look longer wheelbase so may be a one off conversion , or done by LR as a one off

Maybe not if you happen to want a flat bed truck, and I did make that remark before I realised there might actually be something special about it other than the missing crane. I assume it was built by Land Rover Special Vehicles like the (not much) later coil-sprung 127 utility models - it might even be a prototype of sorts or even conceivably the first ever such 127 built? - the sort of thing Dunsfold might be interested in - perhaps someone else knows more about these things?

So, the only thing of value is the chassis. I see it as an antique dresser that someone has chopped the top off to fit into a new house, then someone else has changed the handles to "modernise" it, later on and someone else has changed the cupboard doors to a more recent example.

Sure, the dresser frame is still an antique dresser but in its present state, it has the value of an old hashed about sideboard.

Yes, it has value because it is usable, but not much else.

I sent him a request on it's authenticity a few days ago (Just out of curiosity) Asking for verification of number plate to log book/history/heritage cert etc. Got no reply and now as Geoff says, pulled from ebay....
