Land Rover Sandringham 6, 6x6, Series 3, Stage 1 V8, 95% finished project
Too many projects, too little time !!!!
Land Rover, Sandringham 6, 6 x 6, V8 stage 1, series 3, 139 inch wheelbase. Factory built and original.
Unfinished project, starts, runs and drives, 95% complete with most parts needed to finish. Just brake shoes and cylinders needed.
It’s an original factory built vehicle and one of only about a dozen or so factory built ones known to survive. Based on a Standard Land Rover Series 3 Stage 1, V8 petrol with a LT95 gearbox. The 6x6 was added to a 109 LWB for Land Rover by Sandringham Motor Co. (Hotspur Cars) who added the middle axle and the rear chassis, this is a 139 inch wheel base one (they did 125 inch as well). Used in small numbers by various military forces as a 2 ton load carrier and an artillery tractor and by utility companies such as electricity and water boards.
I've had it for about 7 years and have totally rebuilt it from the chassis up. Its road registered with a V5 in my name. Too many parts to mention but most things have been replaced with new. The chassis was rebuilt with new outriggers, the bulk head has had floor panels replaced, the fuel system is totally new throughout, suspension replaced, repainted inside and out, new exhaust, rebuilt engine, recon box, new radiator, new clutch and clutch hydraulics, etc. etc.
I have a total photo library of every stage of the rebuild.
I also have the proper wide 1 ton wheels which have been shot blasted, primed and will be painted green plus 6 new 7.50 x 16 Extra Grip tyres (its currently on slave wheels).
To finish:
It’s an easy finish, I replaced all of the brake pipes so it just needs brake shoes and wheel cylinders fitting and all the lights refitting and wiring connected. A back body of your choice needs to be sorted, they were fitted with either flat beds with sides (I can put you in touch with a fabricator who will make you one) or a lengthened normal Land Rover body (again the same guy will do this for you. The chassis has the correct mounting points for both on it as they were factory built with either.
I’ve just too many other projects on the go currently and a new bigger truck to restore from World War 2 needs to have my attention so I need the space and this needs to go to somebody who will finish and use it.
As in the photos, please ask any questions you wish and come to look if you want to.
Collect from near Bridgwater, Somerset, I can load it into a trailer for you this end as it will start and drive or I maybe able to deliver for a cost locally.
Sorry no photos as it looks like I don't have admin permission to post them.
