Thought it might a be a good idea to show some of these old workhorses doing what it is they were built for.
To start off, tree planting at Te Rau Puriri (a local council owned regional park). As you see in these pictures I was given the job of carting the shitters. All good until after this shot...
Then it all turned to shit alright. Ran out of traction on the slippery grassy hill, stopped just short of the top, but it was so slippery and with the weight of the trailer, I started going straight back down in reverse. Even with the gearbox in reverse, there was no real control. I held it all straight until the trailer hit a bump and jack-knifed. Just as well really because behind me were a fence and Rangie, directly in my line of fire. But... there was *no damage*
Attempt number two... more sedate. Me winching up up the slope (about 25-30m) with two anchor vehicles at the top. (For some strange reason, the guy who took the photo had the vehicle going level??? I rotated to the correct angle).

Coming home from Melrose.
I think mine was the only one that resembled a Stage 1 there.
Anyway, these photo's were taken at various stages of the trip home to Melbourne.
Melrose is a town on the southern part of the Flinders Ranges. Each year we hold a gathering of Landrovers there.I think mine was the only one that resembled a Stage 1 there.
