How common (given that stage 1's aint that common) are LHD stage 1's?

The reason I ask is that I have just been chatting to my cousin who lives on the algarve and might have a job for me. Now if this came off I couldnt possibly be with out a decent landrover :D

I suppose I could just swap mine to left hand drive :?

It is my understanding that the balance of Stage 1s went export to LHD countries in Europe. I would think there are actually more LHD models than right, but I could be . . . . wrong. I think we should petition aficionado James Taylor to write a book about the Stage 1.

Mine was originally a LHD model destined for Germany. I was re-imported by Foley vehicle specialists who converted it to right hand drive and sold it in uk. Apparently not many were available to the Uk market at the time and due to the long waiting list it was cheaper and easaier to re-import.

Looking at the conversion I don't think it would take too many hours to change everything over if you had to

On the other hand , you can just drive tour RHD car there. I live in the Netherlands and have been driving a Uk-bought RHD SIIA for years now. Only overtaking lorries can be a bit of a challenge.

Last year i bought a RHD stage one that I just started to rebuild. I'll probably will rebuild it as a LHD., but only since i am taking everything apart anyway.

I bought it in the UK because even the rare stage 1's are a lot cheaper ithere than they are on the continent. When i brought mine over I had offers on it more than 100% over the price that i paid for it.

On the whole: i wouldn't worry about driving on the wrong side of the road with the steering wheel on the right (correct) side

I have spent a reasonable amount of time running back and forth accross to morocco and whilst I am happy to drive a right hooker on the wrong side of the road I would prefer a leftie.

Then again I might not end up out there!
