Hcpu leaking fuel tank

Post by Robstal110 »

Hi
I've recently bought a "barn find" stage one high cap.

I've only just had a quick look over it and haven't had a really good poke around yet (apparently your supposed to finish other projects before you buy your next one).however I did put a bit of fresh petrol in only to find it running dribbling out the underside
Can anyone tell me if the fuel tank is standard across the stage one range and indeed as per series 3 109 or is the high caps different?

Thanks

It is standard. I assume you are referring to the side tank and not the rear, but that is standard too.

As i understand It only has one tank, that's at the rear just in front of the rear x member between the main chassis rails. We're high caps ever fitted with tanks elsewhere?

As far as I can see the HCPU V8 is the same as the regular Stage1 tank. Although V8 specific it is the same as the later diesel ones. 4 & 6cyl petrol tanks are not the same.

Thanks Mrs Bingham

I've a 88" s3 and knew it wasnt the same as that.

Looks like its around £100 to replace from Paddocks or Craddocks vs about £60 for the behind the seat one....ah well

When I first bought my Stage 1 I did the same - poured petrol in and watched it pour out on to the ground.

In my case it was a perished rubber joiner hose between the filler and the tank - awkward to replace but a cheap fix.

Good luck.
