I am planning to convert from (knackered) Strombergs to SU HIF 44s on the V8 in my 1983 110.
I was planning to refurbish a good used pair (with linkages) that I have, but I have recently managed to get hold of a brand new left hand carb. Its SU part number is FZX 2005L, which the SU Company website shows as being for a 1986 Defender; the matching right hand carb would be FZX 2005R. There are various other SU part numbers for the carbs for different model years.
I know where I can get hold of a new RH Land Rover HIF 44 at a reasonable price, but the only part number given is the Land Rover one - ETC7123, which seems to be generic for several different model years.
So, is a Land Rover ETC7123 the same as an SU FZX 2005R ? Even if it's not the same, would it be compatible with an FZX 2005L to make up a suitable pair of carbs ?
I've also posted this question on the V8 Owner and LR4x4 forums, but any answers here very gratefully received !
Many thanks.
Nick

Re: SU Carb Part Numbers ?
Answer:
L/R part no: ETC7123 = SU part no: FZX 2005R for SU HIF44 right hand carb of the pair on a Land Rover V8.
(Seller of the ETC7123 managed to get a look as the dashpot tag)
