I bought this in August 2011, my first Land-Rover. It's 1983 in good order, showing 93,000 km which appears to be right from the paperwork they gave me. It was de-registered for 5 years and I think was parked in a barn. When re-registered it had the chassis sandblasted, inspected and painted and various new parts added like brake hoses, cylinders, shocks.

Apparently it was originally a Government vehicle, but not an Army one. I have fitted a Proform HEI distributor because I don't like points. A Pertronics one would have been an easier fit.

Had fun yesterday with about a dozen others in the Land-Rover Owners' Club Auckland, running through the forest tracks at Woodhill. I learnt all about low ratio and diff-lock! It was the oldest vehicle on the day, the others were Defenders and Discoverys. Their coil suspensions worked a lot better than my leaf springs.

I have added a mains power socket so can use powered campsites and I'm looking forward to March 2012 where wife & I will be spending 3 weeks in the South Island, finding salmon to catch in those gravel rivers with 4WD tracks and visiting Warbirds over Wanaka at Easter.

Hi,

Welcome aboard. I saw the Woodhill video on Youtube. Looks the goods amongst them :)

Look forward to seeing you in the new year (pretty busy until then).

Was that the one on TradeMe?

LROCA is a good club to be in. The Harvey's and Tim Warburton are good people to get to know about how to get stuff fixed/upgraded.

Have you been graded yet? Looking at it you would probably be a Grade 2.

Yes it was on TradeMe. I was initially looking for an ex-Army one with a hardtop.

Here is a short MP4 I took on a very bumpy section at Woodhill:

I will take it along to the next LROCA club night and see if I can get it graded.

Cheers, Doug
