One of the last?

If this is genuine it must be one of the last Stage One’s ever made. It looks like a 1985 on “C” plate. Note some subtle differences.

Sure you're not counting growth rings on the paint work?

The only thing unusual I saw in the photos was the rear light arrangement. To be honest - there is a lot of variability with that as these trucks have passed through various owners over the years.

The thing I did notice and liked a whole lot were the seats. They looked like Series Melville and Moon style seats - but I have never seen those before.

Possibly just means it was not registered till some time after manufacture. e.g. made for export, CKD, etc.

It’s certainly an interesting one. The colour scheme appears far from factory spec but the original colour on the inside seems odd – it looks more like British Racing Green as appose to Java or Bronze Green. I don’t recognise the pan shaped bulge in the bonnet – too far back for the spare wheel plus the handbrake surround and the grill panel is different. Ignoring the aftermarket lights the rear lights being spread is normal for very late SIII plus the number plate is on the wrong side. I’m guessing it was either intended for export or MOD and when first registered or demobbed it was given the first available 1985 reg. My understanding is the Stage One ceased in 1985 but I’ve never seen any in the UK post 1983 on a “Y” plate.

C763WWK and C764WWK are on the DVLA site.

C763WWK is listed as yellow.

Both first registered 13 March 1986.

All suggests a special order in that case.

Hi,

Whereabouts on the DVLA site is it possible to view/search for such information? I'm very interested to know what information is stored/accessible about the vehicles I own, including a Stage 1 :-)

Thanks,
John

Go here:

https://www.taxdisc.direct.gov.uk/EvlPo ... =directgov

Click on 'Vehicle enquiry'

Follow instructions.

Information is very limited, but useful for date of first registration and see if your old motors are still kicking about and have had engine transplants.

Thanks for that. And apologies to the OP for going off topic here!

Actually, that was the area of the DVLA website that I'd already found but it operates by first knowing the registration number in question.

I presumed from your earlier post above that you'd 'found' those registration numbers, but I guess you must have just known them to start with and then made the DVLA enquiry. Is that correct?

Incidentally, yes... interesting to see info pertaining to old motors :)

Cheers,
John

Yes, helps to know the registration number.

Sometimes vehicles are registered in blocks by dealers and fleet users, so if you search either side of the target number you sometimes find more vehicles.

Only problem is, 109 V8 details can appear to be the same as Range-Rover 'Classic'.
