water pump replacement- how often?

i don't have a manual for my stage 1, so was wondering if somebody could tell me if the water pump is a scheduled maintenance item, and if so after how long should it be done? are aftermarket pumps ok, and which brand are recommended or should i go for original parts if i can get them?

A water pump shouldnt be a service item ... replace if the bearing is worn or it leaks

I wouldn't worry about brand on a water pump

I still prefer to buy genuine pumps in preference to all else. However there are some very affordable reproductions.

Inspecting the pump is a service item, replacement is not.
