Stage 1 V8

is it just me, but are stage 1's that thin on the ground that most normal auto factors look at though you got two heads when you ask for something as simple as an oil filter for a 1980 stage one land rover!

I usually find when dealing with the local motor factors to ask for parts from other things (e.g oil filter from a 3.5 carb RRc or 3.5 110), as these are more common
Having said that they do hav them listed in most of there parts books, mine mamged to find the clutch plates for it, but use its proper name
S3 109 V8 , (or ask for parts for a 3.5 petrol S3) not stage 1 ...you wont find any published info calling them that, LR never did

that may be half the problem with me quoting it as a stage 1, mind you the little oink in halfrauds response of " like that's 30 years old man why you not scrap it and get something descent!" really didn't help, i tried so hard not to ram his spotty carcase into the hole i just removed the oil can from!

As 5988 says Stage1’s don’t officially exist so always quote SIII 109 V8 or suchlike. I recently came across a local LR Owners Club Chairman who was convinced that there were, and I quote “loads of them about” when he looked at mine. My conclusion was he wouldn’t know a Stage1 if it ran over his head. The boys in Halfords are only interested in chrome plated Saxo’s. Show them a set of points and they’ll think it was an earring.

It’s probably worth setting up a register to see exactly how many Stage1’s are left particularly ones that are actually roadworthy.

and have come across something the now concerns me!

My V5 shows the engine number as an 11G but is shown as first registered in 1980!

The above link dates the 11G as 1982!

Have i not got the original V8? more research required me thinks

sebking should really get his finger out and sort out the register.

Note to self - pull out finger.
