Spare wheels, Where do you keep yours
Spare wheels, Where do you keep yours
I've got a spare wheel and tyre which lives on the floor of the truck.
I don't want to fit it on the bonnet as my poor wife cannot see over it.
The roof rack is out as the RAC man refused to get it down for the wife. Health and safety.
The rear has a split tail gate. If I fit a swingaway type carrier then I have to unlock it then open the upper/lower tailgate. I cannot then drive with the thing open when carrying long stuff. I could convert the lower tailgate to a hinged type which will open with the swing away carrier. But I then lose the tailgate which I use as a table etc when camping. Also the swingaway wheel and tailgate would now be sticking into the tent area of my ex army tent.
HELP any ideas ???

How about converting the lower tailgate so it opens outwards on hinges, and then have a swingaway rear carrier fixed to it, so that when you open it out wards the wheel will swing away with it.
