Anyone know where I can get hold of the bonnet lock mechanism for the 109 V8? Mine has jammed and will not unlock and the locking arms ahs fallen off the back. Had hoped to just fashion a repalcement locking arm but as the key will not unlock it there is no great point.

Any ideas?

Hiya
I seem to remember using a standard rear door locking mechinisim and just fitting the arm to it.I dont expect you can get new as they were only used on the Stage 1s and very early 110s. They were then just blenked of.

Have you tried the ignition key?

I'm sure when I had my first 109 V8, 20 years ago, the bonnet lock and ignition were the same key, but time and age may have made my memory a little hazy!

I think you will struggle to source a replacement lock unless you can find one 2nd hand. I wouldn’t be put off by not having the key however as you can get a replacement made simply enough.

If you can remove the lock take it to a locksmith and have them make up a key for it. As far as I can tell the lock uses the older style ignition key, the all metal type, not the one with the black fob which is the later type key. I don’t think Land Rover at the time paid too much attention to ensuring the ignition and bonnet locks match!!!

Failing that and assuming you have most of the mechanism the lock arm is just a simple hook that I’m sure could be fabricated easily enough. I’m sure someone on the forum could perhaps draw up a template for you.
