Look for Thomas in Australia. There are a few floating around.

Look also for a Range Rover 4 speed PTO unit. You will need to redrill the mounting holes, but aside from that it is essentially the same chain drive unit..

I did look for Thomas/Australia at some point - but according to an Australian LR forum it was a dead end: "Thomas winch company at Moorooka were pretty cool about any enquiry relating to a landrover pto winch when I rang a couple of years ago. They denied even holding parts"

I know the RR, or maybe better, the early 110 gearboxes are fairly similar :)

Yeah well don't believe everything you hear or read on a forum.

Certainly they don't make them anymore, but then you won't buy a new Stage 1 or LT95 either. However I have been in touch with David Brown Industries and Archerfield before.

To be honest, the PTO unit is a pretty simple affair and the only thing that is likely to need attention are the bushes, and they won't wear much unless you are using them every day. These are not rare items and use standard dimensions. The shafts, universals, and bearing blocks are all standard stuff that you can get from any engineering firm.

The only thing you would have a problem with replacing would be the housing and PTO in/out dog. But since that is never likely to break or wear, well. Why worry.

Just remember to shut the engine down before engaging and you will be fine.

Thomas AKA Powauto, for some reason they changed their name some years ago just before they opened the Moorooka Office. You will find their products branded with either name.

Obviously you aren't afraid to spend unlike most, therefore I suggest you contact Rover Australia as most parts are still listed as available for winches, the underslung PTO and the rear output PTO for the LT95.

Hi

I'm certainly not made of money - I'm just fortunate enough to have a very understanding wife :D

Do you know where I can find partsnumbers for the underslung pto and the like - haven't been able to locate them in the parts book ?

Thanks
Michael

Have you looked in the optional parts list?

Certainly have :) - but the optional parts catalogue I have only mentions front and rear pta for the "normal" 4 cylinder type gearboxes - not the LT95.

The one I downloaded from this site covers the upper PTO for all and there isn't too much difference in the lower.

If you are talking about the rear output PTO as the upper, these are fairly common but (AFAIK) were never made by LR. So you are not likely to find them in a LR parts book. Of these you have those that face to the rear and those that face to the front with a chain drive.

More common forward facing PTO output:

The lower PTO comes off the bottom of the LT95 by pulling off the bottom plate and fitting a PTO unit there. This is typically forward facing only and was mainly done with the 6x6 Perenties used by the Australian military to drive their winch. The top PTO having been used to drive the rear diff.

Rare lower PTO:

I'm looking for a forward facing PTO to drive a Koenig winch - I'm not quite sure which of the two forward facings versions you mention, that I need.
