Pulling away in first

Post by nrv1 »

Since purchasing the V8 I have noticed that it really judders very hard, I think from the drive train, unless you rev the engine higher than I normally would think appropriate and slowly release the clutch. If you dont do this the banging is such that you think people will stop in the street and look at you !
I has assumed it was normal but now suspect it is not although I dont recall seeing any other posts on this.Is it my inability to drive the vehicle correctly or is it the sign of trouble elsewhere.Guidance /views : as ever will be appreciated

It is not normal.

Yes it could be driver error and I have dealt with such situations before. However I think you will really need someone else with you. Either to drive the car while you watch, or vice versa.

Is it judder or clunking.

Clunking is going to be the UJ's, Judder may also be seized UJ or poss contaminated clutch.

Echoing Seb, a *shudder* that goes away when you apply more revs is most likely clutch. Mine does that and has done so for years. Just waiting for an excuse to pull the box before doing anything about it but the engine and box are so reliable, well it's been years now ;)

On the other hand a judder (which is like, more violent than a shudder) is probably what you get with the aforementioned hitchhikers. They aggregate with possums, sheep, dogs, etc.
