Gear Stick Thread

Post by stirlsilver »

I'm pretty sure this was discussed on a thread somewhere on this site but I can't find it.

Does anyone know what the thread is on the end of the stage 1 gear stick? I need it to get hold of a nylock nut which I can bond into the gear knob and screw it on so it doesn't wobble on me!

Thanks guys.

M12 I think.

Most standard replacement knobs seem to be the rubber push on type in any case. I need to replace mine because it has started to fall off in my hand when changing gear.

What's your plan, to epoxy the nut into the knob?

Thanks Alan,
The plan is to do the same like I did to the trasfer case selector. Grind down the peaks of the hexagon on the nut enough so it is still a bit of a tight fit and then just press it in to the knob. That way, if needed it can be pulled out later.

Just did that this afternoon. The thread is 1/2" UNF, not M-12. Good guess though :P

Took the corners off up to the hips and used epoxy glue to make sure it is well stuck in there.
