Fuel pump

Post by MSerra »

Hi,
Today, before I started the engine and as soon as I turned the ignition to on, the gas pump began operating, first very fast and then slow down a bit. Here the doubt comes, the pump does not stop :? . I left the ignition turned on about 5 minutes and the pump never stopped. Then I started the engine and stopped five minutes later leaving the ignition ON and the pump continued to operate. Is this normal? :?:

cheers from Portugal

The solid state pump will always tick, though the rate may change slightly and you wont hear it over the engine. Only worry if it doesn't tick.

Read your owners Hand Book.

Yes, it is different to the standard series III pump which will stop when it reaches maximum pressure. It has a return line.

It is not a good idea to leave the key on with the engine not running. Could cook the coil.

Check out Seb's collection of PDFs. Most of what you will need is there.
