This is probably covered already on here somewhere, but I'll ask anyway.
Is there a fundamental difference between the chassis fitted to Station Wagons and Truck body 109 V8's?
If so, what is the difference and can one be modified to the other spec?

Just checked the parts catalogue and there are 2 different part numbers:
NRC2450 - [Truck]
NRC2622 - Station Wagon
Surely there is more difference than a couple of brackets? Or am I giving LR too much credit!
Mine is a windowed hardtop and therefore doesn't have tailgate brackets anyway. Isn't there a difference due to the position of the second row of seats on the Station Wagon? An extra cross member?

rear tub support brackets are different
tub mountings are different - different brackets on the outriggers
think there are more than that, but cant remember them
have seen S3 truck chassis converted t o Sw spec (not V8;s) , but didnt seem a quick thing to do - probably ok if you have a Sw chassis already thats rotten to use as a reference
