No indicators

Post by V8_Disco »

Chaps,

I had a short in the back of the truck, it took out the rear lights

I have now fixed this, but I have no indicators, Hazzard switch works all lights so I dont think its the wiring at the back

i have tried a new indicator stalk (gen Lucas) but that did not work, seem to have no power to this section

Glass fuses look ok,

Hazzard switich seems to be working fine, it was new old stock only a couple of months ago ...

Help!

I need to use the truck for the Chrismass run as Disco is of the road!

Thanks

Aidan

Read your hand book!.

Flashers are an accessory on Series III and have their own sub loom and higher rated flasher unit.

Correct for the period they use a flasher unit/can/bimetallic, not a relay, for either indicate or hazard.

Somewhere behind the gauge cluster is the indicator flasher unit. An original part should be clipped onto the dash panel near the steering column.

Well there where two relay/flasher/cans on my truck

one for the indicators, another for the Hazzards

Because the truck had a tow pack from the factory, the indicator relay had been updated to provide a tell tell in the dash, thats why I did not recognise it as it had 3 pins instead of 2!

It turned out to be the power feed from the fuse box, reqwired and all working again in time for Christmass

Truck was great over the holdiay doing alot of miles (about 350)

However the lack of sound proffing, poor door seals and poor second row doors point to areas for improvment over the comming months
