Towing a stage one

Post by billingtond »

Hi, I am due to shift and will need to tow my stage one to my new abode. can you safety tow the Landy, or will I have to remover the propshafts to stop the gear box form turning over, I have read somewhere that the oil pump whilst under tow will not be running in the box and can cause damage if towed for a long distance???????

Read your owner's handbook.

Off the top of my head you can safely flat tow for 50km at no more 50kph.

Otherwise it depends on what means of towing you have in mind. If you are lilfting one end then remove the shaft or pull the axles out.

Dave, read the label stuck below your dashboard.

Put the gearbox into neutral, put the transfer case into neutral, make certain centre diff lock is not engaged.

Otherwise, hire a vehicle trailer. Got to be easier and cleaner than removing prop shafts.
