NZDF Disc brakes???
NZDF Disc brakes???
An item currently on Trade Me. Seller suggesting that the NZDF were making disc brake conversions for some of the fleet.
Anyone else know anything more? Fact or fiction?

There has been some discussion on the local club list. I think that it may be a test case. It certainly is not standard.
The army did put discs on some of the diesel conversions but again, that was not standard. I would suspect that it was a case of the mechanic trying to see if he could do it.
Some of the sellers comments are a little weird and show he doesn't really know what he is talking about.

I'll let you all know what they are like.
I'm going down to pick them up tomorrow, paid NZ$425 for both diffs, and a full set of wheels and near new tyres.
Have already sold the diffs (less all brakes) out of my stage 1 for $550, so already a $125 profit with a disc brake upgrade, and 4 free wheels and new tyres.
The vehicle they are out of was the workshop truck at the Trentham army base, so it should mean everything is well serviced. Hopefully.

I will post some pics, at some stage, but the diffs are awesome. Perfect swivels, no seeping anywhere. New nyloc nuts on both diff input shafts, what that means I can only guess, unless I take them apart.
Although, now the other diffs are sold, I have to remove them, and fit up these ones. Damn!

It is sometimes debatable as to what needs to be certified, but generally anything which changes the vehicle substantially from its original manufacture. So repairs and replacement with kind do not need to be certified, but if you change from petrol to diesel, put in custom roll cage, change suspension from spring to coil,... then yes. Keeps the apparatchiks busy
