V8 Carbs... (AGAIN!)

Post by olliebarrett_92 »

Ok, Well...
A few months ago, I was after some carburettors to put on my Landy so that it would pass the emissions test for the MOT!
However, now I have got it on the road, it has become apperent to me that there are some serious issues with the engine running.
I took it to a tuning specialist near where I live, and I am now aware that the carburettors have got some serious problems!!

So, I am now on the look out for either.. a pair of carburettors that are known to be working, either on or off the manifold. Or at a push a new pair, if the price is right.

If anyone knows of anything, please get in touch.

Cheers
Ollie :)

Hi,

It seems, you`re interested in a pair of SU`s on ebay. I did the same, and it was a good choice. But you must pay attention; if the needles and jets are worn, maybe you will not be able to tune them correctly, because with worn needles and jets the mixture will probably always remain to rich.
I renewed jets and needles before instaling the SU`s, after that tuning was easy, and fuel consumption is about 16 ltrs/100 km using the overdrive regulary.

good luck

Ok, got 'Geraldine' (don't ask why she is called that!! haha) back from the garage yesterday, and she has got a pair of Zeniths on her now. She is running like a dream, miles better than i have ever had her running before! Got her up to 65 for the first time, and didnt feel under strain or anything, and was still accelerating but i thought i better slow down a bit, as I was in a 60 limit! Wooops! :?

Have a lot more confidence in her now, and can't wait to take her for a run.
