This is getting silly now!!!

Post by olliebarrett_92 »

Ok, the mechanic has had my Landy now for over 3 weeks, and he has only just started work on it.
This is just the start of my problems! the carbs the I had put on them so that it would pass its Hyrdocarbon emissions test are not working properly.
With my 17th birthday on Monday it leaves me 3 1/2 days for him to get my car working!

If anyone has any carbs, preferably SU's, that they know work, PLEASE leave a message.
But for now, I will tell him to make those ones work!!

I will keep you posted!
Cheers
Ollie

Carburettors are fairly simple, when you say they're not working what do you mean?

Would a rebuild kit sort you out?

Beware that most garages now don't have mechanics that have seen a carb, let alone two, let alone worked on them. Have you tried a Land Rover specialist, or even a motorbike specialist to get them balanced? My last bike had 4 carbs and balancing them was part of the 4000 mile service.

They idle lovely, but when under any pressure they just constantly backfire.
The mechanic has worked on them before, including the ones on my brothers 2 Door Classic Range Rover.

Not sure if an overhaul kit would do it? I will have to find out :)

Air leak somewhere in the system?

Not strong enough spark?

Can you get a set of "working" carbs to swap just to see if it fixes it?

are you sure it is the carbs?

Backfire sounds like timing and that area.
