Occasional high idle

Post by Mik »

I've recently begun to have some problems with high idle. It ususally appears after having driven "fast" :) - no problems when just after having started the engine.

I've just changed the HT leads, changed spark plugs and checked gaps, new distributor gap and rotor. It runs with Lumenition ignition. The twin SU's are only approx 2 years old, and I've just put fresh SAE20 Catrsol damper oil in them.

Any ideas where to look next ?

Thanks
Michael

I had this on mine. The plungers are a clip fit in the barrels and had an oiley sticky film between the 2.Mine actually stuck open in the end till i realised what was going on.

I dont like diken about with them either, i'll talk to my mate who helped me with it.We undone the plastic oil damper filler bits, then removed the screws and slid the alloy barrels of the mess was on the inside of this.
