CV Joint

Post by olliebarrett_92 »

I have run into a spot of bother!!
After creating a topic, trying to find out whether the CV joint was a Stage One specific part or not, I have found out that unfortunately it is, this meaning that it would cost £290 to replace.

Has ANYONE got a CV Joint,Part number AEU1828, lurking around in their shed? Garage? If so I would be interested in taking it off your hands!!

Cheers Ollie

just done mine

i used an early range rover one , have to grind a bit off the edge at a 45 deg angle to get it to fit and clean up the inside of the swivle.

could take it to have it turned but you only need to take of about 2 mm off

Hex,

could do with a "How To" on the grinding down the RR one. Don't suppose you took any photos to illustrate?

These parts were hard to find 10 years ago when I did mine. Sounds like nothing has improved (and never will).

Well, I thought that too, but I rang them up just to clarify it, and he said that they do stock them.
He seemed to know what he was talking about so I thought I would take a chance!!

I will let you know how Tuesday goes!!

olliebarrett, can I ask how much you paid?

I've never thought of using Carparts direct for Landrover parts. They're only 5 mins down the road from me (I drive past them every morning on way to work).

They have been very good in the past for getting rare Mazda parts and cheap Vauxhall parts. One downside is that once you've e-mailed them, they never leave you alone, 2 or 3 e-mails a day, even when you reply and tell them to sod off, a few months later, the e-mails start again!

Larry,
I paid £86.23 including VAT.

Went to drive my Stage One to the garage for everything to be fixed and MOT'ed, but thats not going to happen for a while now! Only got 2 minutes down the road and we had flames coming out of the exhaust from constant backfires!!
This is becoming rediculous now!! hahaa
The joys of having an old Land Rover I guess :)
