Gidday guys,
I have just recently become a proud of owner of an ex NZ Army Stage 1 V8. It completes my collection of NZ Army Landrover's, as I already own a restored SIIA Skippy SWB variant and a Kiwi version of the Australian No5 trailer. One day it would be nice to add a S1, but they are very rare down here (in good nick anyway) and I don't really fancy another do up!
Its great to see such an awesome forum, and I will be sure to visit regularly as I begin to learn the intricacies of the Stage 1!!
Cheers lads
Macca

Welcome Andrew. This is a great place to visit, I dont pop in as much as I used to, have moved up to a 110 now, and most of my stage 1 parts collection has gone. You are fortunate though, NZ has plenty of stage 1 parts around at present (the army was good for something) though they are being bought up.
I am surprised at the prices they have been paying for the landys though, many are paying more than I paid for my 110. Since I am not a military collector as yourself the 110 is a better vehicle for me.
The stage 1 manuals are very hard to find, there was one on trade me a while ago, ex army, being 24v and having their own specs that is the best for you. Otherwise the running gear is the same as early RR&110 so most of the info is in those manuals. I was fortunate to get a factory manual with my 110 which is a bit more detailed than the Haynes if you need anything I can scan it and email it to you.
Cheers
Paul.

Hi guys, thanks heaps for the welcomes - as you probably have seen, your information and advice has alrerady been of use!
I am still getting to know the Stage 1 V8, but it seems to be a very capable vehicle, and dare I say it, its actually quieter inside than my SIIA variant!
Web address for the NZLROC (been around now for 7 years and has over 400 members) is www.nzlroc.org.nz
Be pleased to see you there!

Hi Kiwi's,
I finally took some half decent pics of my stage 1...
Trailer will get restored first!
In a couple of weeks I will set the radio's up with all the other bits like jerry cans, camo net, antenna's etc and take some pretend operational pics...
Regards Grant
