FAIREY OVERDRIVE FOR LT95 - LINKAGE WANTED

Post by Raggylad »

I am planning to fit an overdrive to my '83 110 V8. Have got a good unit (thanks Stage 1 Fun !), but it has Range Rover linkage.

I know that Landrover linkages for this unit are like rocking horse *** :( , but has anybody got any good ideas about where I could find one ? Failing that, drawings accurate enough to have one made up ?

Critical parts seem to be the cranked link bar, pivot and pivot bracket.

Many thanks.

He has a pattern to reproduce the Stage One shifting lever.

Still Looking !

Post by Raggylad »

I still need the actuating linkage for the Fairey Overdrive fitted to the LT95 4-speed gearbox - type suitable for either the Stage 1 V8/early 110 V8s (NOT the Range Rover linkage - which is different).

Linkage consists of:

- Cranked actuating rod (longer than straight Series or Range Rover rods and bent in funny ways)
- Pivot
- Pivot bolt
- Pivot mounting block
- Clevis pins x2(if you have them)

Willing to pay £30 to £45 - depending on condition (any repairable)and completeness.

Have heard nothing from Matt (Ginga) - he seems to have vanished from the Forum ?

I spent years looking for one and never found one. I toyed with the idea of making one as its only a few bent metal rods and a pivot but in the end just used the range rover linkage. I had already removed the centre seat and just cut a slot in the panel for the lever to come through.

Andy
This unit is actuall part of the Series overdrive made under licence by Torro. The Torro overdrive unit was almost the same as the fairey but had a much bigger sump which helped the o/d lots.If youve got the TORO, keep it.
