39D probably just means 3.9 liter diesel and there are actually a handful of Stage 1's here in Australia that came factory fitted with the Isuzu 3.9 and even some of the early 110 county's? The stage 1 and 110 county's had the 4BD1 while the military rovers of that time had the 4BD1T(Turbo charged). For those that have never driven in one, it is a very loud and rattling style diesel motor and shakes the whole truck at the stop light. I actually have a guy in my neighborhood that owns one so that is how i know.
