Erratic idle speed

Post by Tom G »

Hi all,
My V8 seems to have developed and erratic idle speed. It dosnt fluctuate as such, but when i stop at traffic lights it quite often has a higher than usual idle speed. It is exactly the same on gas or petrol. As it is not a constant fault, im guesing that the carb / throttle linkages are in need of some lubrication.
If this is the case can i use ordinary motor oil or does it need to be somthing special?
TIA, Tom.

Martains got it. U can also check that the plungers arent sticking in the barrels if u have SUs. Might make a difference.

I tried the lifting up of the peadle, no change.
I will be checking the plungers as i have SUs, although they were fine when i checked for restrictors.
