Anyone tried fitting big 9.00 x 16 tyres under a stage one?
Looks awesome on a 1 ton 109, but I doubt if it wil fit..
Improves the gearing a bit also
9.00 x 16 on Stage one?
Hi Manfred,
9.00R16 tyres are around 36" diameter (some are bigger than others) which is a good 4" more than standard on a stage 1. The 1 ton had longer spring hangers and shackles to allow for this. I know people who have fitted 1 ton shackles and parabolics which can give close to the 1 ton clearance but can change the diff angle on the axle.
I have been thinking about buying some 255/85R16 or 33" tyres in the future. I used to have some on an 88" diesel but sold them as it involved going up hills in 2nd gear

Jon,
What about using normal 16" rims with spacers, it should solve the offset problem.
I've got 235 x 85 x 16" on it now, but I am still in love with the look of the 1 ton. Already got parabolics on, and making some longer shackles shouldn't be a problem.
Changing the diff angle a few degrees shouldn't be that hard either, but I don't know if it's all worth it when it still won't fit.
