Yep. It's the question that keeps coming up. What to do about replacing the choke cable on the Stage 1.
A workable solution may be to use parts from the Bowden cable range but it's the switch that needs to be addressed.
The main two issues with the choke cable are its length (meaning that the Defender choke cable is too short) and the light switch that sits near the brake master. Using the Bowden cable, the length issue is easily addressed, but it's refactoring the switch mechanism this thread seeks to answer.
The switch appears to be crimped onto the cable and that can be sorted. The switch part number is RTC5816 but the price is a bit crazy. The switch has a simple button contactor so presumably there is a lump on the cable.
Thoughts and suggestions welcome.

Re: Choke Cable Chestnut
I had thought Pegasus had this sorted. However all the cable's components are common. It's a case of getting one of the cable makers to consider producing a batch. You'll probably find one of the other BL switches cheaper, reproduced and available. The usual difference is that they have a short loom and plug in place of two Lucar terminals.
Re: Choke Cable Chestnut
Not sure what/which Pegasus you are referring to. There are several that are related to LR and none of them seem to have anything to do with choke cables.
I am looking at making my own. I'll have a look at BL parts, but what brands used a choke light switch like this. Or did all of them do that?

Re: Choke Cable Chestnut
My choke switch was missing so I bought a replacement from PA Blanchard for about £38. I still had the cable in place so just a matter of locating the switch over the hole in the tube on the cable.
I'm assuming that you don't have that "tube" on the cable?

Re: Choke Cable Chestnut
I have a whole cable in place but the cable at the carb end is damaged and the inner is too short. It is presently bodged at that end. So effectively needing to replace the whole length. I can reuse the switch I guess, but it's the actual cable and housing that are the issue.

Anything with a choke warning light; Mk1 Metro, Princess, Midget from about Mk3 onwards, probably earlier for U.S. spec., Triumphs, Rovers...
Re: Choke Cable Chestnut
Is pegasus still trading? As I tried their website and the link didn't work.
