Carb problem

Post by dennis »

I have a problem with my carbs!!

When on LPG- no probs!

When I go onto petrol the old girl splutters like a goodun' and the exhaust is pumping out a lot of black stuff. When I turn the petrol off (I need to empty the carbs of petrol when changing back to gas) after a few seconds she runs beautifully and as the fuel runs out she dies -until I put the LPG back on and then we're OK

My thoughts are a duff float / float valve.

Any other ideas anyone :?:

Hi Dennis,
I had a similar problem with my cd175's and Ordered a carb refurb kit (think it was from paddock spares) it only cost a few quid per side and included the shut off valves.
The only other thing I can think of is that some lpg systems lift the carb needle assembly Via a vacuum so if one of your needles was sticking open then this could also make it run rich?
