Hi All,
I've been a Land Rover tragic for about 6 years now, and I've just purchased a new project vehicle (to be restored after I finish the current project, a 1976 2 Door Classic Range Rover - but that's another story)..
It's a 1983 Stage One V8 Station Wagon...
First pic - loading her up for the trip home (the tow vehicle is a mates 6x6 Perentie):
He's home!!
Some interior shots:
The vehicle came with parts - new drums, wheel cylinders, brake shoes - I haven't had a good look yet at what else:
The engine:
The basic plan is:
* Rip out the LPG system
* Complete fluid/filter change
* Install / check brakes
* Check wiring
* Recover or replace seats
* Wash and clean interior
* Wash and clean exterior
* New Tyres
* Enjoy
I'm not sure if I will paint it OR keep the original patina.
Q: The Land rover badge is missing from the rear of the car... Is this a standard badge or did the stage ones have a special badge?
Q: Are those stripes an Australian thing? I've had a look at other Stage One V8 pictures - and I've never seen them before?
I'm sure that I'll be asking plenty more questions over the journey..
Cheers,
Grey Ghost

Hi GG, glad you found us over here
Regarding the rear badge, it was a standard LR badge - this is mine albeit a UK spec 109 Regular (ie not a Station Wagon)
The station wagon had the extra 'Four Wheel Drive Station Wagon' piece as on other Series IIIs.
I think the stripes and the 'LandRover 3.5' badging are either Aussie spec or else fitted by a PO. They're not on UK spec Stage 1 items anyway.

Hi CaptainSlow,
Thanks - at some point I shall try and purchase a badge... There are a few places here in OZ that I should be able to get an original..
As for the stripes... I'm undecided on whether or not to keep them...
One part of me says "keep it original" and another part of me says "it would look cleaner without those stripes"
And if I delete the stripes - should I repaint the car another colour?
And should I remove the bull bar and replace it with an original style..
And should I...
Ahh... Decisions, decisions....
PS - You aren't the real captain slow, are you?

I'll swap you an original badge for the front bumper - I'll pay for the postage of the badge to Oz if you pay the postage of the bumper from Oz to the UK You could tell your mates you sold it to Captain Slow!
No I'm not the original one, the missus thinks I'm mad because I'm happy driving around at 60-65mph... in a 250bhp Volvo. I'm happy doing 40 in the Landy!
