Hi Guys,
I am about to purchase a Series 3 Stage 1 V8 109 Ex- NZ army Land Rover from a friend of mine. I was wondering. What are the key places and things to check around the vehicle to ensure it isn't going to need massive amounts of work. ie common rust locations etc. Any help would be appreciated. I am going to get under the vehicle this weekend and have a look
The vehicle is running currently because the carbs are blocked and it needs a new fuel pump for the 2nd tank.
Cheers
Brad

It would pay to go over it carefully for rust as the cost of removal will probably be more than the truck is worth.
Check floor and door pillars, rear cross member and bulkhead.
Being ex-army it will be 24 volt which means you will have to look around a bit for some parts. I might be able to help you out as I changed mine to 12 volt.I am pretty sure I have a 24 volt fuel pump in the shed. PM me for what type of beer i drink
The ignition module was made specifically for the army and I am not aware of any spares in NZ. If this fails you will need to modify to 12 volt. There is info on here about how to do that.
There is a heap of aftermarket parts for the rest of it so go hard

Read this and follow the steps.

If it has the army ignition system, it will fail. It is just a question of when. Best option is to replace it. When it does fail, the ignition system is already 12V and it can be repaired if originality is important.
