Stage 1 V8

Where did you get your replacement loom from?
Need to either make my own, or I was looking at getting one from Autosparks.
Looking good so far, very jealous!!!!

mine is an autosparks loom.
can't fault the quality, shame about the blue wrap, but knowing about it I would think they could do it black if asked (the chassis bit is black)

Done a bit more today,

Found out from the stage 1 forum the engine harness runs along the side of the sump ... Wouldn't have thought of that, so fitted that,

Fitted the RH wing, and then found the bonnet jams , back to the problem I had when fitting the LH
Found some interestingly rubbish shut lines on the rear of the bonnet, adjusted the hinges to straighten that, slotted the front panel a bit to move it forward a few mm, and all now lines up and shuts well (nearly, there's still a massive gap under the wing top to bonnet, but that can't be adjusted out



Now got to reprint the front panel as it got a bit battered in fitting things, got the paint stripped of and etch primed it

Sent the rest of the day, removing the oil cooler, fan etc from a ex mill 109 and fitting a leccy fan and servicing it , so not to much done

Done a bit more,

Spent the evenings reprinting the front panel. It got scratched and damaged while trying to get the panels to line up

Fitted it earlier today. All the body now lines up, so that's done

Found my new mud shields are no where near fitting, more good quality new parts

so, turns out its been a year since my last post,
not much has happened, but slow progess is at least progress

mostly little jobs out of sight, but some more noticable

Now with lights, windows and door tops




and with soft top frame in place, this took several days of rework to actually get the parts to fit together - not impressed for what they cost

Been plodding away slowly, go some more done

Now worked out where most of the look goes
Chopped various connectors off and the new chassis loom had different connectors to the new bulkhead loom - getting very bored of new stuff no fitting now
Capped of various wires I don't need (not sure why the loom had the wires for a SW interior lamps, and optional extra fog lamps)

Diff lock actuator replaced and piped up, transfer box lever refitted with new grommet

Today the wiring is almost complete,
Everything works except the brake failure system - which has power going in, but not getting to any of the switches, and the balast resiostor which decided to melt instead of power anything

Almost a year on, time for another update.

It lives
For the first time in the 6 1/2 years I've had it, it moved under its own power.
Engine fired straight up after sitting for 4 years since rebuild, timing set and carbs set as best I can guess and seems to run well. Until the new throttle cable end fell off. Now repaired until a new one arrives it drives well, brakes are good for being new
Just waiting seatbelts, mounting bar, original style number plates and need to order some V8 stickers for it, check straps to make, brackets for seatbelts and rear tub stays

Looks totally awesome, better than new.

Passed the MOT yesterday so all legal now

A little tuning needed, adjustment to the brakes and steering wheel is off centre so needs moving

Gearbox is noisy, I remember them being noisy in the RRC and that had lots of trim, so not sure yet whether its ok or not .... The only bit I didn't rebuild. Going to do a few more miles then drop the oil see what it looks like
