In that last photo, it looks like you have looped the strap over the tow ball.

I take it you were about to assist the Yota out of a slippery situation and that the back door is wide open.

NEVER put the strap over the tow ball :!:

If that's not enough evidence, there's this too. **Warning, graphic**

That is shocking! We did leave it on the tow ball. Lucky us nothing happened. I did know not to be near a tow line because of the wipping force. But this is just horrible.
I guess I just humbly have to thank you for the advice...

Better to be warned... :)

Every year, there are people who get hit by flying tow balls (aka catapulted canon balls). The issue is that the bolt that holds to ball is high tensile and not designed for the shock force that a snatch strap places on it. When the bolt snaps, it does so catastrophically and usually at the time that the force load from the snatch strap is at its peak. Think of a ruler or rubber band with a spit ball. You could hit the blackboard right from the back of the class

This page provides interesting reading and the theory behind it. http://www.landroverclub.za.org/snatch_straps.htm

Personally, I will only rarely snatch other people and do not like to be snatched. I much prefer to use my winch. Actually, I just like to use my winch
