Hello from Suffolk

Post by spider »

Hi
I have just picked up my new project, so here it is not been on the road for 10 years.
The engine seems to be seized and it brake are jammed on.
So i am not sure about how much welding is needed.
So here are the first pictures.

Looks a great project.

You sure about the engine being seized? That would be a pretty rare occurrence. Not just stuck in gear is it? Could it be that the hand brake is jammed on (see repair advice below).

If it s seized, dump the engine and replace with a 3.9.

Brakes may come free with the help of LR universal tool #1 or if that fails, #5.

Still not got back to it to check it out.
3.9 engine that sounds fun, with the Efi and auto box if I go that route.
What tool number #5

I have 3.9 in mine now. Same engine with more oomph. Have the original front end (water pump etc), dizzy (with Pertronix), starter and has SU's. Spins up to 5500 rpm no problem 8)

Land Rover universal tool #1 == big hammer
Land Rover universal tool #5 == even bigger hammer
