Good day @ll,

i recently acquired this Stage 1 SWB "conglomerate". It's my first Land Rover and i will certainly have a few technical questions
on the way to get the vehicle in complete working order.
Unfortunately for the LR collectors, the vehicle has been stripped off it's V8 engine and LT95 gear box, which were replaced by NISSAN
TD-27 engine and FRONTIER gearbox. One has to understand that the availability of LR parts in Trinidad and Tobago is quite limited,
as opposed to NISSAN parts. So from the aspect of keeping the vehicle functional and on the road, it's a reasonable thing to do ;-)
But please don't quarrel with me ... the former owners and myself had no clue, what rare vehicle this is. I only know about the story
of the 29 Stage 1 88" since 2 weeks ...

Thanks for accepting me here in this news group.

Greetings from Trinidad and Tobago,

Andy

Hi Andy,

Welcome aboard. Regardless of the choice of PO's, we are pleased to have the 88 here too.

Harry Potter ;-) ...
the darn NISSAN engine is loud enough, brother... just a different sound.
Yes the thing on top is the condenser unit of an air conditioner.
With the change of the engine the compressor went too. Will have to
replace that one. I spoke to a/c people already, they are willing to give
it a try. It appears that the unit was fitted in Trinidad. We do have a few
cars still on the road with the exact same box and not only Stage Ones.
I didn't get a chance to do much, just window channels, all lamps except headlights,
and upholstery. It's a "county" and the fabric was still good, so we just fixed what needed
to be fixed.
Also fitted an electric winch on the front bumper, which was already
prepared to hold a WARN winch.
Work on A/C and paint job still to come... but she has to get me around
on the island, so those things don't have highest priority ;-)
Enjoy your trip to the islands !

Andy
