New member from Denmark

Post by jenslundgaard »

Good morning all.

I just bought a 1980 12 seater here in Denmark. In reasonable state overall, and well running as well. Had to have the frame fixed a little prior to MoT, but nothing major.
Now after a 4 week summer holiday with lots of miles all over Sweden, all the little things are turning up. It has only driven 50 km's over the last year before I bought it, so now I have changed an UJ (roadside stuff ;), water pump and tires (Maxxis Bighorn 764- 265/75R16).
Idle speed has gone crazy (along with consumption), so a new temperature sensor is waiting at home. I hope that will fix the "cool" engine, and over-revving when idle.

See you out there!

Welcome aboard.

Are you sure it is over revving at idle due to temperature? I would be checking the carbs first, and in particular, making certain the fuel mixture is correct. Otherwise, check that the choke isn't stuck on.

Morn Boys.

Thank you, it is good to be onboard.

I have spent some time playing about with the Carbs, and have got it back to a reasonable idle speed by slackening off the idle adjustment bolt on the starboard carb that was cunningly hidden under the air filter unit.

The temp sensor will still be handy, as the gauge shows "ice-cold"

Cheers

Jens

Check too that you have a good connection to the existing transmitter. The voltage stabiliser may need replacing.

Thanks again folks. Transmitter change fixed the gauge :)

V8 now running smoothly, new air filters fitted, now I will measure consumption for a few days!
