Ya cant fix stupid!! Just bought my first land rover

Post by robertstr »

That was a direct quote from the wife....god bless...

Any way I just bought an x army 109 stage one from NZ on Ebay, should arrive in Florida in about 55 days or so. Still cant believe i did it, but drove em in Africa and sorta loved em from that point on.

I know jack about em cept they need special love and attention, like most British cars I grew up around, dad always had vintage jags around.

Anyway, was dam glad to see an entire forum about this version, so will be sucking a lot of info, and asking a ton of noob questions so bear with me.

Cheers Everybody
Robert

Hi. Welcome.

Great to see them spreading themselves around. Not too sure about that colour scheme, I think you'd want to repaint it with some decent colour.

Anyway, some info about yours:
Make: LANDROVER
Model: 109"V8
Year: 1985
Main colour: Green
VIN: SALLBCAV1AF562111
Plate: MM985
Plate type: Standard
Engine no: 10G09993
Date of registration: 1986, January 16th
Latest odometer reading: 16,503 Km (more likely 116503km or 72392 miles)

I assume you have the tilt?

Robert -

"Tilt" is non-American speak for the soft top canvas.

That is a real looker. I really like that fact that you got the seat belt bar - those are non-standard on civilian models and slightly tricky to find or buy here in the US.

Disco2hse was using the registration (license plate) numbers and referencing the military database. The army rovers have a lot of good documented history available to those that know where to look.

Hello,

Welcome to the club!

If the NZ military are anything like the British, that paint will be more than a few layers thick...(if it's not moving, paint it!). :D

Yeah i suspect that paint goes hmmm, more than skin deep, but since i realy actually like the look of her, I will only mod as i like, but the look will stay pretty much the same. (I say that now)
