fourth gear problem

Post by robert »

Hi,
At some stage I changed gearbox from genuine one to same unit but from rangie. Despite problems with length of front propshaft (I've added distance ring), everything goes easy. But...
Gap between 3rd-4th gear is now huuuuge so with ladden car i have to use overdrive between them.
What I need to change to get back lower gearing of 4th gear. How much work it is? And how complicated? Maybe someone have old gearing as i know that same people changing gearing for higher one?
Thanks
Robert

PS It will be not a problem with v8 but i have transit conversion (and lack of power a bit)

Robert
If you put the stage 1 high range transfer gears in the RR Box the problem will go away.
A RR Transfer had from memory a 1:1 ration and your stage 1 had 1.336:1
You dont have to pull the box out it can be done in situ

Yes all gear ratios in high will change

Just pull them out of the box you removed from the car
or maybe I have misunderstood your situation

Depending on which year the RR was what the ratio will be, early ratios were 1.174, later 1.0, 1.1227, 0.996. stage 1 and 110 were 1.336

Language looks like Dutch to me (edit - if I'd looked at the URL I would have noticed the ".nl" at the end, which is a good clue :) ).

You can use this Babelfish Translation to translate.

I warn you though, Internet translators can produce amusing results and can confuse more than the original language :) :)
