Getting at the gearbox

Post by cjastbury »

Hi

Rather new to Land Rovers, bought myself a 110 V8 in April, that runs on LPG.
My first major task is to remove the interior to allow a gearbox entry, it looks like I need to completly remove the floors, seats, seat box, handbrake to gain access. The plan is that I take it to the local garage who will fit a gearbox and clutch for me, but I get the car ready for the transplant. When looking at the seat box, it seems strange that the middle section could have been made separate, thus easier to add gearbox, has anyone experience of this, maybe modifying this section.
Cheers

110s should have a removable X member for gearbox removal underneath. You'll still have to remove the tunnel/floors to get to the top box bolts.

Box removal can easily be done on ramps with a transmission jack. you only need to remove the tunnel and plate the fuse box is mounted on to get at the bolts on teh bellhousing. only took me a day to take off, and another to put back on.
