get rid of the twin carbs for starters

then get electronic ignition

If you are one of the purists, then you will need to have the carbs balanced, probably needs to be done by a professional. but ask them to set your mixture at around 5-6% carbon monoxide

as for ignition timing, if you have a points dizzy, get yourself a dwell meter/tachometer and a timing light and set them pretty much to these specs:

idle speed around the 750 mark ( engine hot)

Dwell angle 26-28 deg. Set the idle at around 650 to set the dwell though.
or, alternatively, points gap 14-16 thou (.35 - .40mm)

Timing. 6deg BTDC (again, set this at around the 650 rpm mark)

I dont have any emission control on my stage 1, the specs I give here may vary for emission control. Although, if you have it, get RID of it!

Assuming you may want to keep your setup as is what carbs are you running and what ignition system.

How much did you pay for your 4bbl/edlebrock combo and what about the mallory electronic ignition?? Where did you get them also?

Cheers,

Chris-

Go to summittracing.com . . . they have all of this at amazing prices. Shipping even up here to alaska was beyond reasonable. Look at my website to see where I got all of my stuff and about how much I paid for it. If you buy all of this from them, you will save HUNDREDS if not THOUSANDS of dollars. They don't charge premiums like the specialist shops do.

I checked out summitracing, thanks. which ignition do i need, mechanical or vacuum advance as i don't know my motor to well yet? I have the luxury of an APO shipping address while i am here in Australia so your fellow C17 guys are probably flying my rover parts over as we speak. I have ordered a few things from RoversNorth and from Atlantic British(mostly series stuff, no stage 1 stuff).
